"Tomaidrian" was born Thomas Pompey McKinley in 1958.

Raised in Islington, a suburb of London, Thomas studied in Cambridge. Later a professor at the Warwick Mathematics Institute, he found something lacking in the academic life. The Company advertised research position openings, and Tomaidrian was inspired him to put his lifetime of skills to use. Leaving his professorship, he applied to the Company to pursue an utterly different lifestyle, adopting the nickname Tomaidrian as he made the transition.

While he was not part of the original research team that the spawned the horrific Outbreak, he has difficulty reconciling the ethical issues behind the Company's exploration. He is dedicated to assisting others and protecting the innocent from the uncaring claws of the invaders, which helps alleviate the strain on his conscience.

He formed and keeps a watchful eye over the Alpine Meadows Institute for Demonology (dedicated to the Nobel Prize-winning physicist Niels Bohr) as well as the Tacticians Academy, both located in the northeast of the city. Tomaidrian can often be found in the northeast quadrant of Alpine Meadows, maintaining barricades and discouraging the demon menace.

The professor constantly researches the origins and methods of the demons, as well as more effective means of combatting the hordes.
