Ghoul

The Ghoul is a scavenger of the underworld. Standing less than 100 centimeters in height, the Ghoul is most notable for its hunched back appearance, beady black eyes, and long, jagged teeth, which are often stained a dark yellow from a lifetime of eating flesh torn from the dead and dying. This latter characteristic is believed to be the reason why the Ghoul appears to be strongly disliked by its fellow demons; numerous recorded instances exist of other demon species attacking Ghouls with little or no provocation. Unintelligent and shambling, the Ghoul is weak and not very dangerous, although it rarely passes up an opportunity to attack a passing human. Its bite does not appear to be infectious.

Ghouls have 5 hit points and are capable of dealing between 1 and 10 damage per attack.

Grunt

The Grunt seems to be commonly used in demonic invasions as cannon fodder. Spewed in great numbers from an operating demonic gateway, the Grunt is often at the forefront of an attack, and just as often, dying in great numbers during the attack. Standing on average 125 centimeters tall, the Grunt is a lean creature with muscles that ripple under its hairy skin. Vaguely humanoid in appearance, the Grunt is occasionally observed to be wearing, or trying to wear, the tattered remains of clothing no doubt torn from the bodies of its victims. The Grunt appears to eschew weapons, and prefers to attack with its claws, of which it boasts six to a hand. Its claws are often quite long, and usually honed to a razor-sharp point. Aggressive to the point of being suicidal, the Grunt loves nothing more than a good fight.

Grunts have 15 hit points and are capable of dealing between 5 and 20 damage per attack.

Imp

The Imp's most remarkable characteristic is its disturbing similarity in appearance to that of a male adult human. Typically standing 168 centimeters tall, the Imp possesses a remarkable level of intelligence that makes it a very cunning and dangerous enemy. Seen from a distance, it can be easily mistaken for a human, and this has led to many disastrous encounters in the early days following an invasion. The Imp also possesses the unusual ability to secrete a substance from glands in its wrists that ignites upon contact with air; it typically attacks by secreting a glob of this substance and then hurling it at its victim. Similar to white phosphorous in consistency, these fireballs have been known to burn their victims to death in minutes, melt holes in metal, and disable parked vehicles by fusing together the moving parts of their engine. While most Imps enjoy unerring accuracy, there have been a few recorded incidents of a fireball hitting another demon and triggering a fight between demons.

Imps have 25 hit points and are capable of dealing between 5 and 20 damage per attack.

Gatekeeper

The Gatekeeper seems to be the Hephaestus of the underworld. Standing some 180 centimeters tall, with long, clean limbs and wide-set eyes, the Gatekeeper is never seen without its omnipresent "tool belt." The exact nature of the tools it carries are unknown, but in its hands, they appear to grant the Gatekeeper the ability to both "turn off" and set up new demonic gateways. Given this creature's ability to link up with the source(s) for new demons, other demons are usually very aggressive in their defense of Gatekeepers. Left to its own devices, the Gatekeeper wields a very ineffective attack of stabbing their victim with one of its tools; but in a group, it will often prefer to hang back and let the better-equipped demons do the bulk of the fighting. Like most demons, the Gatekeeper seems unaffected by the strong radiation which flows from an operating gateway.

Gatekeepers have 50 hit points and are capable of dealing between 10 and 15 damage per attack. When Gatekeepers are allowed inside of buildings, they are able to create demonic portals inside.

Lost Soul

The Lost Soul is little understood due to overwhelming difficulties in obtaining a corpse for autopsy. This arises from the Lost Soul possessing some kind of internal self-destruct mechanism, which rapidly renders a Lost Soul into a pool of viscous fluid only moments after its death. In appearance, the Lost Soul is indescribably hideous, with extremely large and bulging eyes that it is assumed enable it to see well in the dark, and a mouth that is literally filled with needle-like teeth. Like a snake's jaw, the jaw of a Lost Soul appears to be capable of unhinging, allowing it to open its mouth to a staggering width. Limited eyewitness reports suggest that the Lost Soul moves by floating through the air; it is surmised that it wears some kind of anti-gravity harness, although no such device has yet to be recovered. What is known is that the Lost Soul prefers to attack by flinging open its cavernous mouth, and then diving from a concealed height upon an unsuspecting victim. There are reports of mercenaries being almost completely decapitated in the first few seconds of an attack.

Lost Souls have 75 hit points and are capable of dealing between 10 and 30 damage per attack.

Hell Knight

The Hell Knight is a short and squat demon, with a muscular torso and bulging arms that it uses to support and fire its implanted gun at its victims. Standing only 120 centimeters in height, the Hell Knight's diminutive size can be deceiving, for it packs a wallop. In a horrifying blend of flesh and machine, the Hell Knight has a build-in railgun that emerges from its chest and which fires chunks of ferrous metal at incredible velocities. The Hell Knight has a unique internal physiology, with a remarkably bird-like gizzard that it appears to use in shaping the pieces of scrap metal it is frequently seen ingesting. The implanted railgun is powered through a dense mesh of fine metallic wires which thread their way throughout the Hell Knight's muscles, and which are apparently used to collect and store biokinetic energy. This theory is further supported by the eerie accounts of automobile headlights glowing from the nearby presence of a Hell Knight, or in fluorescent bulbs in a building lighting up as a Hell Knight walks beneath them. Exactly how many rounds the Hell Knight can fire from his gun before either the ammunition or electrical charge is depleted is unknown.

Hell Knights have 100 hit points and are capable of dealing between 20 and 35 damage per attack.

Spectre

These demons are currently unclassified by the Company, and seem to be present only in the sewers under Piedmont. New reports of spectres being sighted in Hell's Gate City. Mercenaries have been reported being sprayed by spectres' poisonous mist during combat.

Spectres have 150 hit points and can deal at least 35 damage per attack.

Mancubus

These demons have been found to roam at Hell's Gate. Highly dangerous with its rockets when fired on hapless mercenaries. Preliminary test have shown that mancubi have 125 Hp, but it has not been officially confirmed. More information is still being gathered.

Revenant

Found only in Hell's Gate city, the deadly Revenant awaits the passing mercenary to feed its desires for battle. With an enormous 300 health and a 85-175 dmg lightning bolt attack, the Revenant is a deadly foe.
